BDD has become so omnipresent that I often don’t know I’m going through rituals until my husband — being my support buddy, my accountability partner, and best friend — puts a note on my desk bearing a list of overlooked rituals.
Yesterday I did not post in my journal, telling my husband “I didn’t have a BDD moment.” This morning a note appeared on my desk (and with it a miniature flower).

Hmm, he’s right.
I did indeed have a bath whilst wearing my vest. I have 14 identical vests. Matte black, adjustable spaghetti straps, loose around the midriff and v neck cut to contrast my round face. I bathe in my vests, I sleep in them, I weedwhack the garden in them, and I cook, clean, and shop in them and… you get the point. They are my constant and consistent companions in life, which is why I don’t notice them clinging to me like a codependent ex boyfriend.
As for makeup to do gardening, hey, I’m in the garden without my sunglasses. Makeup is practically naked when it comes to being outside in sunshine, so that’s not so much a ritual as it is progress.
And the photos, well, let’s just say I prefer to see photos of love notes, such as the one which triggered this post. Thank you husband.
